रक्ताचा कर्करोग (ब्लड कॅन्सर): ल्युकेमिया, लिम्फोमा व मायलोमा हे रक्ताचे कर्करोग आहेत. सतत ताप, अशक्तपणा, अंगावर डाग, गाठी येणे किंवा हाडदुखी असल्यास रक्ततज्ज्ञांचा सल्ला घ्या. अनेक रक्ताचे कर्करोग उपचाराने बरे होतात.
ब्लड कैंसर: ल्यूकेमिया, लिम्फोमा और मायलोमा खून के कैंसर हैं। लगातार बुखार, कमज़ोरी, शरीर पर नीले निशान, गांठें या हड्डियों में दर्द हो तो रक्त रोग विशेषज्ञ से मिलें। कई ब्लड कैंसर इलाज से ठीक हो जाते हैं।
"Blood cancer" is a group of cancers that start in the bone marrow or lymph glands. The three main types are leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Many blood cancers are curable, and others can be controlled for many years with modern tablets and injections.
Warning signs
- Fever that keeps coming back, frequent infections
- Weakness and paleness (low haemoglobin)
- Bleeding gums, nose bleeds, red or blue spots on the skin
- Painless swelling of glands in the neck, armpit or groin
- Bone pain or back pain, unexplained weight loss, night sweats
How it is diagnosed
Complete blood count and peripheral smear, bone marrow aspiration and biopsy (done in our OPD), flow cytometry, cytogenetics and molecular tests, and lymph node biopsy where needed.
Treatment
- Chemotherapy and day-care infusions
- Targeted tablets (for example for CML and CLL)
- Immunotherapy and monoclonal antibodies (such as rituximab)
- Blood and platelet transfusion support
- Bone marrow transplant consultation when needed
